BBSRC Doctoral Training Grant - 2005

This grant funds doctoral training partnerships, not a specific research project—it pays for the next generation of scientists to be trained through PhD studentships across UK universities. The problem this addresses is straightforward: fundamental scientific discovery depends on skilled researchers, and those researchers must be trained. Without sustained investment in postgraduate education, the pipeline of talent that feeds every sector of the UK economy—from pharmaceuticals to agriculture to manufacturing—would dry up.
