Privacy

UK Research Grants is a static website. There are no accounts, no sign-ins, and no advertising. This page explains, in plain English, what happens to data when you use it.

What we collect

Nothing. The site has no analytics, no tracking, and sets no cookies. We do not know who you are, and we keep no record of your visit.

What stays in your browser

The site saves a few preferences in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme choice, and whether you have dismissed a couple of one-time hints in the Semantic Map view. These stay on your device and never leave it. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

Requests the site makes for you

If you use semantic search, the text of your query is sent to our search function, which uses OpenAI to interpret it and rank matching grants. Your query is processed to return results, nothing more.

Map pages load their background map images from OpenStreetMap — a standard web request, the same as loading any image. The site itself is hosted on Netlify, which serves these pages the way any web host does.

People named in grant records

The grant records come from open data published by the funders themselves and can include the names of researchers who hold publicly funded grants. We republish this information for one purpose: making public research easier to find and understand. Every grant page links back to the original funder's record where one exists. If you are named in a record and want to ask about a correction or removal, email jorge@magentimethodologies.com.
