RFI Training Grant 2024

This grant funds doctoral training partnerships, not a specific research project—it provides the financial and structural support for universities to recruit and train PhD students across a range of scientific fields. The problem it addresses is a practical one: the UK needs a steady pipeline of skilled researchers to keep its science and engineering sectors competitive. Without sustained investment in postgraduate training, the country risks losing the expertise needed to staff laboratories, develop new technologies, and teach the next generation of scientists.
