DTP Bid Led by London Sch of Hygiene and Trop Medicine

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is leading a consortium to train the next generation of doctoral researchers in medical and public health sciences. This matters because the UK needs a steady pipeline of highly skilled scientists to tackle complex health challenges—from emerging infectious diseases to the health impacts of climate change. Without sustained investment in postgraduate training, the country risks losing its capacity to conduct world-leading research and respond to future health crises. The Doctoral Training Partnership funds studentships across multiple research organisations, creating a structured pathway for PhD students to develop expertise in areas the MRC prioritises. If successful, this programme will produce researchers who go on to work in universities, public health agencies, and industry—strengthening the UK’s research base and its ability to translate discoveries into real-world health improvements.
