The aim of this study is to investigate how people make decisions in environments with differing rates of reward, in both the social and non-social domain, and to examine how this behaviour relates to personality traits and mood. Participants will take part in a single online session lasting a maximum of 2 hours. The session will consist of completion of an information sheet (enclosed), informed consent (enclosed), an instructional section, and a computer task. In the computer task for the social domain, participants will be shown stimuli of faces, and they will be asked if they want to send a friend request to the displayed face. The acceptance will be experimentally manipulated to be high in reward-rich environments and low in reward-poor environments. A similar task will be designed but with abstract stimuli to see how social cognition differs from non-social cognition. The computer task (like all other aspects of the task) will be run in a browser and compatibility with the most common browser types will be ensured. Furthermore, the session entails completion of a fixed set of questionnaires.
