BBSRC Doctoral Training Grant - 2005

This grant funds doctoral training partnerships, not a specific research project—it pays for the next generation of scientists to be trained through PhD studentships across UK universities. The problem it addresses is straightforward: the UK needs a steady pipeline of skilled researchers to keep its science base healthy. Without sustained investment in postgraduate training, the country would struggle to produce the specialists who staff university labs, corporate R&D departments, and public-sector research institutes.
