OCEANITY advances the European Digital Twin of the Ocean (EDITO) by delivering three high-TRL, user-driven domain applications: Coastal & Urban Resilience, Marine Spatial Planning, and Sustainable Maritime Operations. Co-designed with policy makers, industry, civil society, and researchers, these applications will be validated through 10 use cases across all four EU sea basins, ensuring scalability, transferability, and alignment with EU policies (MSFD, MSPD) and Missions (Restore our Ocean and Waters, A Climate Resilient Europe). OCEANITY integrates multi-scale, land-use, physical, biogeochemical, hydrological, and socio-economic processes into hybrid frameworks enhanced with AI and predictive analytics, improving accuracy, timeliness, and usability of decision-support. FAIR-by-design data pipelines and interoperability with Copernicus Marine, EMODnet, EOSC, DestinE, and EuroHPC will guarantee robust, portable workflows. The project expands EDITO’s service layer with upgraded intermediate services (e.g. SURF, VOM-LAB, AI pipelines) and new final services (e.g. ship routing, Offshore Wind and NbS planners), enabling plug-and-play deployment. What-If Scenarios and a regulatory sandbox will support participatory testing of policy options, enhancing trust, transparency, and uptake. By embedding exploitation pathways—open-science outputs, business models, training, replication best practices—OCEANITY ensures long-term sustainability within EDITO. Its integrated approach strengthens the evidence–policy–action loop, empowers communities to adapt to climate change, stimulates sustainable blue economy growth, and positions Europe at the global forefront of marine digital innovation.
