Dubai to Brazil and Beyond: CECG’s plan to repair trust and drive ambitious, and accelerated multilateral climate action from 2024-2026

We’re approaching halftime in the ‘decisive decade’ and heading towards 2030 when the window of opportunity to prevent a global climate emergency closes. The next two years will set the tone and tenor for this second act. CECG’s goal is to make every COP a catalyzing moment, driving ambition and action, building a narrative of momentum and progress and, in turn, accelerating the transition to keep us on track to 1.5C. We pursue this goal through three functions (grantmaker, convener and influencer), deployed across four strategic pillars (Implementation, Impacts, Investment and Inclusion). This grant will support CECG’s efforts to co-lead a big NDC campaign, land finance in 2024, galvanise support for institutions and infrastructure central to global climate cooperation and lay critical foundations for Brazil. This grant would give Wellcome membership to CECG’s Donor Group, providing a platform for Wellcome to (i) support CECG to strengthen the health lens and evidence across our grant making and convenings (e.g. with critical climate leaders from Simon Steill to COP Presidencies), (ii) forge and strengthen alliances with CECG's experienced major climate philanthropies, and (iii) have access to CECG’s insight, intel, and expertise on multilateral climate action and effective strategies that can shape it.
