This project proposes a real world evaluation of the CareLoop platform in a mental healthcare setting in the US. The CareLoop product has been developed in the UK to support people with severe mental illness. It has an expansive evidence base and has been extensively tested through a series of clinical trials. The CareLoop product is now NICE-recommended through the Early Value Assessment process in the UK and is registered as a Class I medical device with the UK Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority. However, it has never before been used in the US.This real world project will collect data on clinical outcomes, user acceptability, and implementation. We will work closely with service users and healthcare professionals to identify and overcome the practical barriers and enablers to adoption. The data we collect will inform iterative improvements to the CareLoop product and implementation model. Crucially, the project will support the development of the CareLoop commercialization strategy, bringing critical insights to the CareLoop approach to the U.S. and global markets. The project will also inform the CareLoop strategy to low and middle income countries (LMICs) where affordability, infrastructure limitations, culturally sensitive technical adaptations and health system constraints are key.
