Strengthening cross-sectoral approaches to global health in German policy- making

The proposed project aims to strengthen cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration on global health in German policymaking, reinforcing Germany’s commitment and leadership in this field. It is implemented by the Global Health Hub Germany (GHHG), a network that brings together over 2,000 members from eight diverse stakeholder groups to foster dialogue, exchange, and joint action on pressing global health issues. Activities include two to three policy-events for Members of Parliament, the organization of the flagship Global Health Talk 2026, and the implementation of two high-level Catalyst Dialogues to deliver actionable recommendations for policy. The project also deepens collaboration between the global health and climate sectors through targeted events and communications activities. Emphasizing equity, diversity, and inclusion, the GHHG ensures broad representation, including from the Global South, in all its activities. By combining interactive engagement formats with evidence-based policy input and strategic communication, the initiative seeks to build new global health champions in Germany’s government and parliament. In doing so, it supports more coherent and impactful policymaking and contributes to the achievement of the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 3. This effort positions Germany as a key actor in shaping a fairer, more resilient global health architecture.
