Climate change is threatening human health, biodiversity and the eradication of sustained poverty. Many Global South (GS) regions are affected by climate change more than other regions, and may therefore be considered as hotspots of high human vulnerability. This programme is to support IPCC WGII AR7 Global South Coordinating Lead Authors (CLAs) in the evaluation of climate change risks to GS regions and to enhance their knowledge of climate change adaptation for this particular IPCC cycle. This will ensure a more comprehensive reflection of global scientific knowledge.For this purpose, a Call for all eligible GS IPCC WGII AR7 CLAs will be opened for a one-off grant for the selected CLAs Institute in early 2026. The grant will be available from spring 2026, but can be split into installments, according to the needs of the CLA awardee. This grant will allow the CLAs to recruit research assistants. The funds include the stipends for the chapter research assistants as well as open-access publication fees. The 'ICTP- IAP - IPCC WGII Collaborative Research Assistance Grant Programme' will also deal with the monitoring the reporting from the selected CLAs, and implement a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning process
