Accelerating policy action for a future with sustainable access and use of antimicrobials for all

In support of its ultimate objective–sustainable access and use of antimicrobials for all–the AMR Policy Accelerator (the Accelerator) is guided by two key aims: 1) To strengthen antimicrobial resistance (AMR) global governance structures that integrate equity and intersectoral/One Health principles and accelerate AMR action globally. 2) To advance evidence-informed AMR policy decisions at the national level with a focus on the context- specific needs of low and middle-income countries. By combining rigorous interdisciplinary policy research, open access policymaking tools and training, and an external communications structure that ensures timely and effective reach to the right audience at the right time, the Accelerator gives decision makers the resources they need to develop and implement evidence- informed policies to address AMR. Since 2022, the Accelerator’s work has gained significant national and global traction, and this momentum will be amplified through continued research and strategic collaboration in the coming years. The Accelerator will support the establishment of a robust Independent Panel for Evidence for Action against AMR (IPEA) as an integral part of a nimble and effective global governance system for implementing the Global Action Plan and advancing the 2024 United Nations Political Declaration on AMR.
