Peanut allergy is the most common cause of severe reactions and food allergy deaths in children and adults. The continuous need to manage these risks profoundly reduces quality of life of allergy sufferers and their families. Camallergy is pioneering a novel biological oral immunotherapy drug CA002 for the treatment of peanut allergy to protect patients from severe reactions should they accidentally eat food containing peanut. It aims to provide protection within 12 weeks of starting treatment, significantly improving quality of life. The treatment regime desensitises patients by gradual exposure to increasing amounts of characterised allergenic proteins and involves seven short treatment visits and two years of easy, daily administration. The early access programme at Cambridge Peanut Allergy Clinic (CPAC) has achieved \>95% success in over 200 children. This project will conduct a Phase 3 clinical trial in the UK and Ireland, designed to confirm the success of CA002 at CPAC, positioning CA002 for approval for use in children and adults in the UK and internationally.
