Sociability Creative Industries Accessibility Platform

Sociability is building a global data platform that lets disabled people find accessible spaces and venues, and is now equipping live event and performance venue managers with tools to understand, communicate, and improve their premises’ accessibility. This matters because disabled people and their companions often cannot reliably find out whether a concert hall, theatre, or festival site will meet their access needs. Current information is inconsistent, incomplete, or absent, leaving many people to risk arriving at an inaccessible venue or simply stay home. The project addresses a practical gap: venue managers lack a standardised way to assess, manage, and share accessibility details tailored to individual requirements. If successful, this platform could change how the live events and performance sector handles accessibility. Venue managers would have software to track and improve their premises, while disabled customers would receive personalised, trustworthy information before they travel. The impact is on infrastructure that quietly shapes social participation—the systems that tell people whether they can enter a building, use a toilet, or reach a seat. For a sector that relies on public attendance, better accessibility data could also reduce legal risk and expand audiences. The project is applied, not fundamental science, with a clear commercial and social goal.
