Multi-View Videos (Live auto-editing)

In plain English

AI plain-English summary

A smartphone app lets viewers navigate between multiple camera angles of the same live event, as if they were moving through the space themselves. Happaning’s ViiVid format synchronises videos from different vantage points into a single navigable scene, similar to Google Street View but with live or recorded video. This addresses two problems: current multi-perspective video requires manual clipping and syncing, and single-perspective videos are vulnerable to deep-fakes and misleading edits. The technology also verifies time and place of each recording and detects post-production tampering. If successful, the system could change how live events—concerts, sports, community gatherings—are experienced remotely, letting viewers choose their own perspective rather than a director’s cut. It also offers a practical tool for verifying video authenticity, which matters for journalism, legal evidence, and social media. The project is applied commercial research, not fundamental science, and aims to make multi-view video as common as standard video is today.

**Public description** Happaning is an award-winning, Web3.0 tech-start-up working on ground-breaking technology in video and mixed-reality (AR/VR). With a globally renowned team of industry and technology expertise, Happaning will further advance its patented technology through this Industrial Research project. Alongside endorsements from TechCrunch, Creative Industries Council and Sir Richard Branson, Happaning won the European Social Innovation Challenge People's Choice Award with their proof-of-concept and will now make it a reality. **What's HAPPANING?** _If a picture tells a thousand words and video a thousand pictures... Imagine a thousand videos._ Happaning lets content creators collaborate to produce verified multi-vantage experiences, viewers can move through. Our revolutionary ViiVid (multi-View Video) media format combines multiples videos to verify time and place, detect post-production edits (including deep-fake videos) while letting viewers move between perspectives as if they're there (Google street view but with video) and it starts with our Happaning app; an EventTech app empowering immersive and authentic community events. **The How:** Using cutting edge Augmented Reality and trail-blazing video syncing methods, ViiVids (Multi-Vantage Videos), let you navigate between vantage points, allowing you to move inside the videos and see what's happening around you from the perspective of other users. Currently, videos from different perspectives must be clipped together and synchronised manually to achieve the same experience, while single-perspective videos remain vulnerable to abuse (deep-fakes, careless editing, plain misdirection). Our transformative solution provides creators/viewers with an alternative to outdated video media formats by: * Displaying the whole picture from all available viewpoints. * Verifying time/place * Detecting post-production edits **The Why:** Our purpose/values centre on making media more collaborative, immersive and authentic. The mission is to disrupt the video value chain, by making ViiVids as ubiquitous as videos are today.
