The APART Project - “Advanced Power-plant and Aerodynamic Research Technologies 2009” Project - is a multi-stranded programme that will support Airbus in the UK’s contribution to the achievement of the ACARE 2020 targets. The project, led by Airbus UK Ltd in collaboration Airbus Group, provides the initial investigations which will inform a number of longer term research projects initially and specifically the Smart Active Wing of the Future. The technologies developed in APART 09 will form key components of the future ‘building blocks’ of knowledge within the UK Centre of Excellence, used in conceptual design, modelling and testing and manufacture and assembly of aircraft wing for future more efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft.
