SEEDA has been approached to provide match funding to the value of £2.5m to support the Monitoring of Aircraft Component Health (MACH) programme of work within the National Aerospace Technology Strategy (NATS}. The MACH programme will develop new technologies and expertise in the field of health monitoring of aircraft components. The programme is of particular importance to the South of England because of the concentration within the South of knowledge and skills associated with health monitoring technologies. SEEDA's investment will help companies within the region secure jobs, increase skills, access the supply chain and thereby facilitate business growth and competitiveness. The technology, if successful, will contribute to more affordable, safer, cleaner and quieter aircraft. Health monitoring technology is aimed at providing the capability to predict and diagnose failure in aircraft equipment and systems.
