TALENTGAL is an innovative MSCA-COFUND programme of the Xunta de Galicia (Galician Government) to support the professional development of postdoctoral researchers during 30 months, by enabling them to conduct independent, high-impact research within one of the 10 Galician Research Centres of Excellence that make up the CIGUS Network.TALENTGAL promotes researchers’ career development from a three-dimensional perspective: independence, consolidation and leadership, fostering scientific integrity, knowledge-technology transfer and entrepreneurship. With a bottom-up approach, TALENTGAL supports both fundamental and applied research across a broad spectrum of fields aligned with the Galician RIS3 strategy, including medicine, biotechnology, nanomaterials, chemistry, ICT, environmental engineering, marine sciences and physics. Candidates freely choose their research topic and host institution according to their expertise and career goals.Interdisciplinary, cross-sector and international collaboration are the key pillars of the TALENTGAL programme. Besides advanced scientific training through research, fellows will receive complementary training in transferable skills and personalized support and mentoring articulated through a Personal Professional Development Plan (PDCP), fostering opportunities for further industrial collaboration, cross-sector mobility and interaction with wider audiences which will contribute to enhancing their career prospects in both academic and non-academic settings. Mandatory secondments across academia, industry, civil society, and the public sector will further broaden fellows’ career prospects in both academic and non-academic settings. The programme is further supported by a diverse network of 40+ Associated Partners from different sectors, scientific disciplines and countries, ranging from academic institutions and universities, industry leaders, SMEs, research infrastructures and technology centres.
