REWARD – Rewarding Agri-Environmental Results for a Green Transition

REWARD unites 26 partners from farming, research, policy and business sectors to accelerate the transition towards resilient and sustainable farming systems. The project upscales innovative payment mechanisms – results-based, collective and spatially coordinated – that empower farmers to deliver agri-environment-climate public goods (AECPG).Through 14 real-life Innovation Hubs (IHs) across 11 countries, REWARD will engage more than 35,000 farmers in diverse agricultural, environmental and institutional contexts. In at least 4 IHs, digital tools and remote sensing will be tested for cost-effective monitoring. The project will reach 15,000 stakeholders through communication activities, while over 1,000 actors – including farmers, advisors, policy administrations, researchers and businesses – will directly benefit from capacity building via a MOOC, a training academy for decision makers, and teaching modules for students.REWARD will co-design 5 upscaling roadmaps, 11 policy briefs, 5+ scalable funding models, a practical funding guide for blended and private funding, and an integrated monitoring guide adapted to different approaches, targets and contexts. By cooperating with more than 15 EU projects, REWARD will ensure synergies, joint activities and wider impact beyond the project lifetime.By embedding payment schemes into governance and market structures, REWARD contributes to the Green Deal, CAP reform and just societal transitions, empowering farmers and communities to drive Europe’s green transition.
