MyTQG: Calon y Gymuned - Heart of the Community

The project will create an exciting STEM experience at the ‘Heart of the Community’ of North Wales and North West England, by bringing positive socio- economic change to people and their communities through innovative, solution- focused, co-created STEM engagement. The new centre, ‘A home for Inspiring Science in the heart of the Community’, will act as a catalyst for regeneration, instilling community engagement and wider social change. An enhanced outreach activities programme, co-created by the very audiences it aims to attract, will engage historically hard-to-reach communities in spaces familiar to them, and break down barriers to STEM engagement for these groups. The project will: - Attract and inspire new audiences with STEM through the relocation of Techniquest Glyndwr to Wrexham’s cultural centre, increasing visibility and access to a community-focused science discovery centre. - Enhance Techniquest Glyndwr’s facilities; delivering an under-one-roof suite of multi-purpose spaces and refreshed exhibits. - Extend the science discovery experience into the under-served and socio-economically deprived areas of North and Mid-Wales, and neighbouring areas of Cheshire and Shropshire. - Deliver greater social and emotional engagements amongst previously under- represented communities; including local migrant communities; aligned to the 'MyTQG' vision. - Create a sense of community ownership through the 'MyTQG' campaign, incorporating the arts and culture.
