Global climate modelling depends on a linked workflow of scenario frameworks (such as the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs)), Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), Earth System Models (ESMs) and the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) to generate and compare projections of future climate conditions. Historically, this entire process has been led by researchers in high income countries (HICs), leaving low and middle income countries (LMICs) under resourced and under represented despite facing the greatest climate risks. To tackle this imbalance, we propose a capacity strengthening programme that offers hands on training in IAM development and alignment with climate attribution methods and health focused climate services. By prioritizing researchers based in LMICs, the programme will build vital local expertise where it is needed most and foster more inclusive, context driven climate health modelling.
