Driving Climate Action and Sustainable Development through the NDC Partnership

The NDC Partnership is proposing a grant of USD 1,298,810 from Wellcome, to support implementation of its Work Program. This contribution will enhance the Partnership’s ability to respond to growing demand for support from developing countries to advance health-related climate action. The Partnership brings together countries and institutions to create and deliver on ambitious climate action that help achieve the Paris Agreement and drive sustainable development. Governments identify their NDC implementation priorities and the type of support needed to translate them into actionable policies and programs. Based on these requests, the membership offers a tailored package of expertise, technical assistance, and funding. This collaborative response provides developing countries with efficient access to a wide range of resources to adapt to and mitigate climate change and foster more equitable and sustainable development. Collectively, the Partnership has mobilized over USD 1.8 billion to deliver coordinated support to more than 100 developing countries. As of March 2025, 101 developing countries have received support to implement and enhance their NDCs from 310 Implementing Partners. Yet, 43% of all requests are still unmet, including most health-related requests. Wellcome’s support will enable technical assistance and strengthen the Partnership’s Support Unit to effectively coordinate and maximize impact.
