Funding for Global Health Partnerships (formerly THET) to provide the secretariat to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Global Health & Security.

GHP is seeking £10,000 from Wellcome to support its role as secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Global Health and Security. This contribution will strengthen how UK parliament engages with global health, ensuring parliamentarians have consistent access to expert insight, including LMIC perspectives, on the most pressing global health challenges. The APPG provides a cross-party forum for policymakers to examine the UK’s role in global health and security. As secretariat, GHP convenes experts, produces accessible briefings and reports, and ensures diverse perspectives inform parliamentary debate. Wellcome’s support will enable at least four meetings each year on priority global health themes, establish an Advisory Group and produce high-quality briefing materials for parliamentarians. To improve external understanding of the UK’s role in global health, GHP will also strengthen communications through dedicated website and social media channels. This work directly supports the promotion of themes central to Wellcome’s global health strategy, ensuring they receive sustained cross-party attention in parliament. This includes the Future of Global Health Initiatives process, antimicrobial resistance, mental health, global health equity, pandemic preparedness and climate health threats. Through this partnership, Wellcome can help create a more informed and effective policy environment for advancing Global Health and Security.
