This is a writing retreat for proposal entitled Africa-led Human Mucosal Immunology Platform to Advance Rational Development of TB Vaccines and Immunotherapies. The overal aim of the program is to generate a comprehensive understanding of human airway mucosal immunity and the mediators influencing immune protection against Mtb, thereby informing the design and evaluation of TB vaccines in high-burden settings. We will draw on our unique cohorts established at each site (MLW, AHRI, UCT and SUN) and shared expertise in immune profiling of human airways to identify the mucosal responses required for TB immunity and establish assays to measure candidate CoP in accessible samples.
