We will develop a world-leading Interdisciplinary Research Centre focused on Vascular Disease under the BHF CRE scheme. The centre will undertake innovative studies in vascular medicine, population sciences, functional genomics, and cardiovascular metabolism, to discover new pathways underlying cardiovascular disease, new modalities for diagnosis, new strategies for prevention, and new treatments through early translation via experimental medicine studies. The centre will catalyse multidisciplinary research between outstanding groups in the University and affiliated institutes, industry and local health care partners, including those outside traditional biological sciences, and also provide multi-disciplinary training for the next generation of clinical and non-clinical cardiovascular scientists.
