Removal of a blood clot causing a severe stroke is a specialist, time-critical treatment which can significantly improve patient outcomes. Upfront Diagnostics have developed a test to rapidly identify these strokes in an ambulance, enabling faster access to thrombectomy treatment for stroke patients. This project aims to collect real-world evidence that a novel in vitro diagnostic test can assist accurate detection of suitable thrombectomy candidates during initial ambulance assessment. This observational study will evaluate the test’s performance, implementation challenges, and potential system/patient benefits through a prospective ambulance-hospital study and health economics modelling. The Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria will support value proposition, business case, procurement and market access strategy. HRC DTE will support on statistical data analysis report, PPIE and health economics modelling.
