We aim to provide the Agri-tech and Food Technology cluster in North and Mid Wales a mealworm biorefinery model that will provide a sustainable alternative source of poultry feed protein, a high performance crop bio-stimulant and a natural and sustainable animal health product. Mealworm biorefineries can help develop the Circular Economy by converting out-graded food and feed manufacturing by-products into proteins and oils with attractive nutritional profiles, thus _reducing emissions, food loss and waste_. In our Circular Economy project, we aim to use locally available food by-products and evaluate the application of the bio-stimulant product and mealworm feed on-farm and work with animal health experts to evaluate the animal health product derived from mealworm exoskeleton.
