White-label rental plugin for ecommerce

In plain English

AI plain-English summary

Babies outgrow their clothes every three months, and Borro lets parents rent high-quality organic outfits instead of buying new ones. This matters because the current options for dressing fast-growing children are all flawed: new organic clothes are too expensive, fast fashion is environmentally damaging, and second-hand shopping is time-consuming. Borro offers a rental service that combines the affordability and convenience of fast fashion with sustainable, durable clothing from organic brands. Keeping clothes in use for longer reduces CO2e emissions by 49% compared to the linear make-use-discard model. If this project succeeds, it could change how parents shop for children’s clothing by making sustainable options both affordable and convenient. But the real shift is in the retail system itself. Borro plans to work with retailers rather than compete against them—offering a white-label rental plugin that lets existing clothing brands add rental to their business model. This could create extra revenue for retailers, give parents a convenient sustainable option, and help disrupt the fast-fashion industry’s environmental damage. The technology is already being built; the challenge is scaling it to reach more families.

Babies and kids grow fast - they need a new wardrobe every three months! The current options for parents are buying new organic clothes (unaffordable), buying fast fashion (unsustainable), or shopping second-hand (time-consuming). Our rental service, Borro, allows parents to rent high quality organic clothes for their children with the affordability and convenience of fast fashion, but without the cost to the planet. Buying something you only need for a few months doesn't make sense. It makes sense to borrow it. At Borro, we only work with high-quality, organic brands which we know make clothes to last. This is a much-needed innovative solution in contrast to the current linear model of make, use, throw away. Keeping clothes in the loop for as long as possible reduces the CO2e emissions by 49% and provides busy parents with a convenient and affordable solution to fast-growing kids. While our customer base is growing, we recognise that we need to make this innovative opportunity available to more parents. We need to work with the retailers, not compete against them. They have the clothing expertise and existing customer base, and we are building the technology. Combined, we can create a truly unique and innovative solution that gives parents a convenient sustainable shopping experience, creates extra revenue for retailers, and disrupts the damaging fast fashion industry.
