Nutrition and digestive health are foundational to well-being, yet one-in-ten adults has a chronic gastrointestinal (GI) condition and \>25% of the UK population are obese and 8% have diabetes (diet is the significant precursor). There is an urgent need to better understand and address the factors linking diet, nutrition and the GI process to health. Ademen's core technology is a non-invasive patch sensor and associated analysis software that enables the tracking of bowel activity cycles -- a metric that provides insight into lower GI health. Our sensor is the first non-invasive device capable of tracking bowel activity patterns over the course of several days and is providing unique insight into the variation of bowel cycles associated with health and digestion. We are currently developing a medical specific version for post-operative bowel monitoring, but a far wider need exists. In DIGEST, Ademen Limited will work with design experts from Aston University to better understand the development requirements of a platform technology suitable for multiple deployment use-cases where longitudinal GI monitoring offers value.
