Fast Charging Removable Battery Off- & On-Road Motorcycle

Maeving is building the world’s first electric motorcycle with a removable battery that charges from a standard plug socket in minutes, not hours. Most electric motorcycles either chain the rider to a fixed charging point or require bulky, non-removable batteries that take hours to recharge. This locks out people who lack off-street parking or access to dedicated charging infrastructure—a major barrier to adoption in dense UK cities. Maeving’s approach solves that by letting the rider simply carry the battery indoors and plug it into any wall socket. The new platform adds fast charging and telematics—real-time data on battery health, location, and charge status—so the system can be managed remotely. If this succeeds, it could shift urban transport away from petrol scooters and motorcycles, which currently make up a disproportionate share of city-centre air pollution. For delivery riders, couriers, and commuters, the ability to swap or fast-charge a battery without a dedicated station removes the biggest practical obstacle to going electric. The project is applied engineering, not fundamental science: it takes existing battery and connectivity technology and integrates it into a vehicle platform that works for real-world use.
