"The Lighter than Air (LtA) Hydrogen Valley is a groundbreaking initiative driving large-scale hydrogen adoption across industrial, mobility, construction, logistics, and energy. Bringing together leading hydrogen producers, innovative infrastructure developers, and international OEMs, the project will establish a fully integrated hydrogen ecosystem.Strategically positioned between Bradford, Leeds, and the Humber, LtA will create a resilient and scalable hydrogen network, accelerating decarbonisation while reinforcing European industrial leadership in hydrogen technologies. The valley will unite key stakeholders to overcome technological, financial, and regulatory barriers, ensuring hydrogen becomes a viable and competitive solution for hard-to-decarbonise components of the energy system. In alignment with the Clean Hydrogen Partnership’s objectives, the LtA Valley sets ambitious targets for hydrogen deployment, including:- 40MW of electrolysis capacity, producing at least 4,500 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually- Centralised hydrogen supply with an efficient ""pipeline-on-wheels"" distribution network, supporting large-scale commercial operations with hydrogen at near diesel-parity cost- Deployment of over 150 heavy-duty hydrogen vehicles by leading European OEMs, achieving cost parity with battery electric alternatives to enable commercial leasing solutions- Decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors such as logistics and construction, demonstrating the viability of hydrogen-powered equipment- Increased public awareness and engagement, showcasing hydrogen’s role in net-zero through high-visibility infrastructure, roadshows, and replicability studies- Laying the groundwork for large-scale, hydrogen production, pipeline, and storage infrastructure and investment in an European industrial heartland- Deliver data and learnings from a proprietary monitoring platform to optimise the operations, performance, and impact of the full LtA project ecosystem"
