The primary aim of this proposed international collaborative platform is to research, develop, demonstrate, and deploy three types of next-generation small-scale green energy systems with energy storage. These are based on utilising biomass gasification, non-concentrated and concentrated solar thermal technologies, with additional use of passive night-time sky infrared radiation cooling. These small off-grid systems will be designed to be easy to transport, install, and rapidly deploy, providing electricity, heating, and cooling to vulnerable groups displaced by natural disasters and geopolitical events, or situated in remote districts. The development and commercialisation of these energy systems require various multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary activities and efforts. The consortium comprises eighteen teams from five EU countries (Belgium, Italy, Spain, France, and Germany), two from associated countries (Turkey and the UK), and five TCs (Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, South Africa, and Uzbekistan). There are six universities and six companies from EU/associated countries, as well as five universities and one company from TCs. All these organisations will contribute to the development of the systems in line with their unique expertise, acquired through decades of research and entrepreneurial activities. All teams will collaborate closely to incorporate transnational, trans-sectoral, trans-disciplinary, and transgenerational elements into research and innovation, as well as knowledge exchange and training activities within the project. Active interaction and networking among participating organisations will be crucial for enhancing the research and innovation, and entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of Researchers and engineers, especially those at the early stages of their careers, to boost their potential and prospects in both academia and industry.
