The Protein Data Bank in Europe (PDBe) is a core resource of the EMBL-EBI. With international partners, it manages two archives, PDB and EMDB, containing knowledge of the 3D structure and function of >100,000 biomacromolecules and complexes. This project will help the global community to develop adequate archiving solutions for heterogeneous 3D structural data, on scales from molecules to cells. It will also allow PDBe to become a unique resource for integrated 3D structural information that will empower expert and non-expert users in the biomedical field. The aims of this project are: -To enable PDBe and its partners to address the challenges posed by the rapid growth and developments in 3D cellular and molecular structural biology. -To support high-quality curation of heterogeneous 3D structural data (PDB, EMDB and possibly new archives in the future) at PDBe. -To maintain and develop the core PDBe database and software infrastructure to support the requirements of int egration, curation, annotation, analysis, visualisation, validation and dissemination of structural information as PDBe evolves. -To expand the PDBe outreach and training efforts to maximise the impact of the PDBe resource on biology and medicine in the UK, Europe and beyond.
