We are living through the most rapid technological and scientific revolution in human history, yet encountering unprecedented challenges to global health. Wellcome and The Academy of Medical Sciences share an ambition to create and support researchers who will drive the frontiers of discovery and knowledge by being ‘‘change agents’ to deliver inclusive equitable leadership. This partnership will provide crucial seed funding to emerging talent to nurture and propel their careers through Starter Grants and Springboard awards. Our tailored support, mentorship, leadership training and cross-sectoral opportunities equips them for the future. Our FLIER and Cross-Sector Programmes offer access to an increasingly inclusive ecosystem of innovation, and multi-sector and transdisciplinary collaborations. Our policy work provides an evidence-base for training and career pathways, thus supporting the development of the research eco-system. This partnership will deliver: New diverse cohorts of discovery and clinical researchers successfully transitioning to leadership and strengthening the workforce. Knowledge creation and translation through cross-sector approaches. A new breed of leaders who will drive transformational change in research and the wider ecosystem. Through direct activity, coordination, influence and catalysis our partnership will accelerate progress in supporting researchers to tackle the most recalcitrant global health challenges.
