The Climate Change and Health Support for COP30 – Brazil project, led by PAHO/WHO, aims to strengthen Brazil’s leadership in aligning climate and health agendas ahead of COP30. Anchored in the Belém Health Action Plan, the project promotes equity-driven, evidence-based adaptation strategies within the health sector. Its main goals are to foster national and international dialogue, enhance institutional capacity within Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS), and generate actionable knowledge to guide climate-health policy and practice. A major outcome will be the 2025 Global Conference on Climate and Health, co-organized by WHO and the Brazilian government, to be held in Brasília from 29 to 31 July 2025. The conference will highlight themes of health equity, climate co-benefits, and just transitions, engaging diverse stakeholders across all levels of governance. The project will also produce two strategic knowledge products. The first is a Synthesis Report on Social Participation, analyzing participatory approaches and proposing ways to strengthen engagement with Black, Indigenous, local, and traditional communities. The second is a Supporting Document on Climate and Health Policies, offering evidence-based, equity-focused recommendations and no- regrets actions to support the Belém Plan’s implementation.
