University of Sunderland and Training in Childcare Limited KTP 24_25 R4

A childcare training company is building an interactive digital platform to teach care workers in the UK and abroad, rather than relying solely on in-person courses. Training in Childcare currently delivers its programmes face-to-face, which limits how many students it can reach and makes international expansion slow and expensive. The company also lacks a systematic way to update its teaching methods or market its courses overseas. This project, a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Sunderland, brings in academic expertise to solve those bottlenecks. If the platform works, the company could train far more childcare professionals without needing to send trainers to every location. That would help address the global shortage of qualified care workers, particularly in countries with growing elderly populations. The project also develops a marketing strategy tailored to different countries’ regulations and cultural expectations, so the training meets local standards. For the UK, this means a small business can scale up and compete internationally, while the university gains real-world insight into how digital pedagogy works in the vocational training sector.
